Entry Visa

Overview

    • Applicant granted a particular type of Visa is required to strictly adhere to the purpose of the visit declared by him/her. Any violation of Visa category may attract appropriate legal action or deportation.
    • Spouse and children of a foreigner who is granted Business (Owner) / Employment / Student Visa are eligible for Dependent Visa.
    • Parents /legal guardians (in the absence of parents) of a minor child less than 18 years of age coming on Student visa may be granted Entry Visa.
    • The duration of the visa is at the sole discretion of the Issuing Authority and it will be decided based on the main applicant’s visa validity. Please note that the validity of the visa begins from the date of issue and not from the date of travel on your application form.
    • Within 14 days of arrival, all foreigners visiting India on long term (more than 180 days) Visa are required to get themselves registered with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) / Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) concerned having jurisdiction over the place where the foreigner intends to stay.
    • When applying for a dependent visa, please select the same visa type as the main applicant.(Except guardians).
    • Spouse who married to an Indian citizen : Entry visa / Child whose parent(s) is an Indian citizen : Entry Visa.

How To Apply

  1. Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

  2. Fill Out the Government Application Form: Click here to access the form.
  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

  4. Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
  5. Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC (as per your jurisdiction). The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
  6. Submit Your Application & Pay Fees: Submit your documents and pay the applicable fees at ICAC. Refer to the Fee Details section for exact charges.
  7. Enroll for Biometrics (if required): Complete biometric enrollment if applicable.
  8. Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your visa application.
  9. Track Your Application: Monitor your application’s status online.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. Who should apply for an Entry Visa?
    This visa is intended for Persons of Indian Origin, their spouses and children, or individuals coming for specific charitable or religious purposes as defined under the X-1, X-2, or X-Misc categories.
  2. Can I apply for Entry Visa if I want to volunteer at an NGO?
    No. Entry Visa is not granted for voluntary or unpaid NGO work. Such applications are automatically rejected.
  3. What documents are required for an Entry Visa?
  • Valid passport
  • Completed visa application form
  • Proof of Indian origin (parent’s passport, birth certificate, etc.)
  • Marriage/birth certificate for dependents
  • Institutional letter for religious/charitable activities (X-2)
  • Proof of property ownership (for X-Misc)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Any additional documents requested by the Embassy.
  1. Is registration in India required upon arrival?
    Yes, if your visa is valid for more than 6 months, you must register with the FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival.
  2. Can I work or engage in business on an Entry Visa?
    No. Entry Visa does not permit employment, business activity, or paid services in India.
  3. How long is the Entry Visa valid?
    The validity is decided by the Embassy based on the applicant’s case and purpose of travel. Multiple entries may be granted depending on the situation.
  4. Can I apply as a Buddhist monk or religious worker?
    Yes. If you are joining a recognized monastery or religious institution, you may apply under the X-2 category with a valid institutional letter.
  5. Can I apply without an appointment at ICAC?
    No. All applications must be submitted at the designated ICAC by prior appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted.
