Transit Visa – Information Tab

A Transit Visa is issued solely for the purpose of allowing the holder to travel through India en route to their final destination.

Validity: The transit visa is typically valid for a single journey and must be used within 15 days from the date of issue.

Duration: A maximum of 3 days per entry is permitted, which includes the day of arrival and the day of departure.

Important Instructions

All foreign nationals applying for a visa in Bangkok are required to complete a Reference Form in addition to the online visa application.

Non-Thai Applicants:

  • Please print the Reference Form.
  • Fill in the details using BLACK INK ONLY and in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • Submit the completed form along with the online visa application.

How To Apply

  1. Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

  2. Fill Out the Government Application Form: Click here to access the form.
  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

  4. Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
  5. Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC (as per your jurisdiction). The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
  6. Submit Your Application & Pay Fees: Submit your documents and pay the applicable fees at ICAC. Refer to the Fee Details section for exact charges.
  7. Enroll for Biometrics (if required): Complete biometric enrollment if applicable.
  8. Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your visa application.
  9. Track Your Application: Monitor your application’s status online.

Transit Visa (Seaman Book) – Thai 

  • Duly filled Application form 
  • Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
  • Passport first page 2 copy
  • Copy ID card 1 copy
  • Copy old India visa 1 copy (if have)
  • Copy seaman book 1 set
  • Invitation letter from company in India
  • Letter from the Thai company with seal (put purpose of visit)
  • Itinerary of ship
  • Booking flight ticket (one-way ticket)
  • Original passport valid minimum 6 months with minimum 2 blank pages

Transit Visa for Change of Flight in India 

  • Duly filled Application form 
  • Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
  • Passport first page 2 copy
  • Copy ID card 1 copy
  • Copy old India visa 1 copy (if have)
  • Booking flight ticket for change of flight in India
  • Hotel booking in India (if have)
  • *For children under 18 years*
    • Letter for allowing child to travel to India with parent allowance along with parent signature
    • Copy Birth certificate
    • Copy of father and mother passport or ID card
    • Submission time Father or Mother needs to be present
    • For children under 12 years – no need for biometric
    • For children 12+ years – biometric required
  • Original passport valid minimum 6 months with minimum 2 blank pages

Transit Visa for Change of Flight – Non-Thai

  • Duly filled Application form
  • Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
  • Copy passport first page 2 copy
  • Copy Thai visa 1 set
  • Flight booking ticket in-out India (round trip)
  • Letter for allowing child to travel to India with parent allowance (attached copy of father’s and mother’s passport for children under 15 years)
  • NON-THAI FORM (only black ink)
  • Original passport valid minimum 6 months with minimum 2 blank pages

Transit Visa (Seaman Book) – Non-Thai

  1. What is a Transit Visa used for?
    A Transit Visa is granted to travelers who are passing through India to reach another country and need to leave the airport or stay briefly in India during the transit.
  2. How long can I stay in India on a Transit Visa?
    You can stay up to 72 hours (3 days) per entry. The visa is valid for 15 days from the date of issue for making the journey.
  3. Can I get a Transit Visa for two entries?
    Yes. If your travel itinerary includes two transit stops in India, you may apply for a two-entry Transit Visa, each allowing a stay of up to 72 hours.
  4. Do I need a Transit Visa if I don’t leave the airport?
    No. If you are in direct transit, remain within the airport’s international transit zone, and do not pass through immigration, a Transit Visa is generally not required. Please confirm with your airline and destination airport beforehand.
  5. What if I want to stay in India for more than 3 days?
    You must apply for the appropriate visa (Tourist, Business, etc.) if your stay exceeds 72 hours or if you plan to engage in any other activity.
  6. What documents are required for a Transit Visa?
    • Valid passport
    • Confirmed travel itinerary
    • Proof of onward travel (e.g., flight ticket)
    • Completed visa application form
    • Recent passport-size photo
    • Any additional documents requested by the Embassy
  7. Do I need an appointment for visa application submission?
    Yes. You must book an appointment with the DU Digital Global ICAC and visit only on the scheduled date and time. Walk-ins are not accepted.
  8. When does the visa become valid?
    The visa is valid from the date of issue, not from the intended travel date mentioned in your form.
  9. Is visa approval guaranteed after submission?
    No. Submission does not guarantee issuance. All visa approvals are subject to the discretion of the Indian Embassy/Consulate.
