For persons travelling for medical treatment, there is a dedicated Medical Visa category.
Foreign nationals seeking medical treatment must apply for a Medical Visa and not a Tourist Visa.

Application Instructions for Applicants in Bangkok
- All foreign nationals applying for a visa in Bangkok are required to complete a Reference Form in addition to the online visa application.

Important Instructions for Non-Thai Applicants
- Print the Reference Form
- Fill in the form using BLACK INK ONLY and in CAPITAL LETTERS
- Submit the completed Reference Form along with the printed online visa application
How To Apply
- Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.
Click here to register. - Fill Out the Government Application Form: Click here to access the form.
- Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.
Click here to book your appointment - Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
- Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC. The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
- Submit Your Application & Pay Fees: Submit your documents and pay the applicable fees at ICAC. Refer to the Fee Details section for exact charges.
- Enroll for Biometrics (if required): Complete biometric enrollment if applicable.
- Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your visa application.
- Track Your Application: Monitor your application’s status online.

Medical Visa for Non-Thai Nationals
- Dully filled Application form
- Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
- Copy passport first page – 2 copies
- Copy Thai visa – 1 copy
- Copy of the last old India visa – 1 copy (if available)
- Medical report from Hospital in Thailand (in English)
- Letter from Hospital in Thailand stating purpose of referral to Indian Hospital
- Letter of acceptance from Indian Hospital
- For children under 15 years: Letter of consent from parents + copy of both parents’ passport front pages
- Flight booking ticket (round trip) – if available
- Hotel booking in India – if available
- NON-THAI FORM (only black ink)
- Original passport valid for at least 6 months with minimum 2 blank pages

- Duly filled Application form
- Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
- Copy passport first page – 2 copies

- Who is eligible for a Medical Visa to India?
Foreign nationals traveling to India for specialized treatment at a recognized hospital, such as organ transplant, heart surgery, neurology, or cancer treatment. - Can a family member or friend accompany the patient?
Yes. Close relatives or friends can apply for a Medical Attendant Visa (MED-X). A declaration from the patient and supporting hospital documentation are required. - How long is the Medical Visa valid?
Typically, for up to one year with a maximum of three entries. The actual duration is determined after reviewing the case and documents. - Is registration with Indian authorities required upon arrival?
Yes, if the visa is valid for more than 180 days, registration with FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival is mandatory. - Do minor children accompanying the patient need a separate visa?
Yes. They can be granted an Entry (X) Visa that matches the duration of the patient’s Medical Visa. - What documents are needed to apply for a Medical Visa?

- Can the visa be extended in India?
Yes, in special cases, visa extensions can be requested through FRRO, especially for follow-up treatment or long-term care. - Where should I submit my application?
All visa applications must be submitted at your designated DU Digital Global ICAC after booking a prior appointment. No walk-ins are accepted. - Can I use a Medical Visa for wellness or general health check-ups?
No. The Medical Visa is strictly for serious, specialized treatment. For wellness or alternative therapies, a Tourist Visa may be appropriate.
