Entry (X) Visa – Information Tab
As per the official guidelines of the Government of India, an Entry (X) Visa may only be granted to the following categories of applicants:
- Foreign nationals of Indian origin visiting India for purposes such as vacation, visiting family, or personal reasons
- Spouses and children of persons of Indian origin
- Spouses or dependents of foreign nationals traveling to India on valid visas such as Student, Business, Employment, or Research visas
- Family members of diplomatic or official households who do not qualify for diplomatic visas
- Participants in sports tournaments or events
Validity
The duration of the Entry (X) Visa is specific to the purpose of the visit and is determined on a case-by-case basis.
A visa may be granted for up to one year and can be extended within India.
How to Apply
All foreign nationals applying for a visa in Bangkok must submit the Reference Form along with the Online Visa Application.
Non-Thai nationals are required to print the form, complete it using
BLACK INK and
BLOCK CAPITAL LETTERS, and submit it along with the online visa application.

How To Apply
- Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.
Click here to register. - Fill Out the Government Application Form: Click here to access the form.
- Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.
Click here to book your appointment - Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
- Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC. The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
- Submit Your Application & Pay Fees: Submit your documents and pay the applicable fees at ICAC. Refer to the Fee Details section for exact charges.
- Enroll for Biometrics (if required): Complete biometric enrollment if applicable.
- Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your visa application.
- Track Your Application: Monitor your application’s status online.

- Duly filled Application form

- Copy passport first page – 2 copies

- Marriage registered in India: Original + Copy
- Marriage from another country: Copy attested by relevant embassy in Thailand + Original must be shown
- Marriage registered in Thailand: Translated copy attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Copy of spouse’s passport: First and last page (must show name of spouse)
- Original passport valid for minimum 12 months with at least 2 blank pages
- Invitation letter from spouse in India (if available)

Entry Visa (Dependent on Indian Passport – Child)
- Duly filled Application form
- Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
- Passport first page – 2 copies
- Copy of birth certificate
- Copy old India visa – 1 copy (if available)
- Birth certificate
- Born in India: Original + Copy
- Born in another country: Copy attested by relevant embassy in Thailand + Original must be shown
- Born in Thailand: Translated copy attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Copy of parent’s passport (first and last page) showing name in Indian passport
- Original passport valid for minimum 12 months with at least 2 blank pages
- Invitation letter from parent in India (if available)

Entry Visa – Sports Purpose
- Duly filled Application form
- Photo 2 inch x 2 inch only white background
- Copy passport first page – 2 copies

- For non-Thai: Copy work permit/resident permit + Thai visa – 1 set
- Invitation letter from Indian organization
- Certificate letter from Thai organization
- Clearance from Indian ministries (MEA/Nodal/Home Affairs)

- Copy passport or ID card of father and mother

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Who should apply for an Entry Visa?
This visa is intended for Persons of Indian Origin, their spouses and children, or individuals coming for specific charitable or religious purposes as defined under the X-1, X-2, or X-Misc categories. - Can I apply for Entry Visa if I want to volunteer at an NGO?
No. Entry Visa is not granted for voluntary or unpaid NGO work. Such applications are automatically rejected. - What documents are required for an Entry Visa?
- Valid passport
- Completed visa application form
- Proof of Indian origin (parent’s passport, birth certificate, etc.)
- Marriage/birth certificate for dependents
- Institutional letter for religious/charitable activities (X-2)
- Proof of property ownership (for X-Misc)
- Recent passport-sized photographs
- Any additional documents requested by the Embassy.
- Is registration in India required upon arrival?
Yes, if your visa is valid for more than 6 months, you must register with the FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival. - Can I work or engage in business on an Entry Visa?
No. Entry Visa does not permit employment, business activity, or paid services in India. - How long is the Entry Visa valid?
The validity is decided by the Embassy based on the applicant’s case and purpose of travel. Multiple entries may be granted depending on the situation. - Can I apply as a Buddhist monk or religious worker?
Yes. If you are joining a recognized monastery or religious institution, you may apply under the X-2 category with a valid institutional letter. - Can I apply without an appointment at ICAC?
No. All applications must be submitted at the designated ICAC by prior appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted.
