What Happens at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC)

On the Day of Your Appointment:
Please arrive at the ICAC 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Timely arrival helps ensure a smooth experience.

Mandatory Personal Attendance:
All applicants must attend in person for services related to visa, passport, or consular matters. No third-party submissions are allowed (except in permitted cases).

Accompanying Persons:
Only the applicant is allowed entry unless:

  • The applicant is a minor under 18 (one parent/guardian may accompany).
  • The applicant requires physical assistance or medical support.

 

Services Offered:
The Indian Consular Application Centre provides a range of services, including:

Visa Services:

  • Tourist, Business, Medical, Student & other visa categories.
  • Document verification.
  • Biometric enrollment (as required).

 

Passport Services:

  • Passport renewal or reissue.
  • Lost/Damaged passport applications.
  • Change of particulars (name/address/date of birth).

 

Consular Services

  • Surrender of Indian Passport.
  • Renunciation of Indian Citizenship.
  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).
  • Attestation and other consular certifications.


Documents to Carry:

  • You must bring the following documents based on your application category:
  • Printed application form (with 2D barcode) – 2 copies
  • Passport bio page – 1 copy
  • Valid passport or travel document with at least 3 blank pages
  • All supporting documents (originals and photocopies)
  • Applicable fee receipt, if already paid online

If you miss your appointment, you can reschedule after 24 hours.

Biometrics (Visa Applications Only):

  • Biometric enrolment is required for most visa applications.
  • A digital scanner will capture fingerprints (10 fingers) and a photograph.


Important biometric guidelines:

  • Face must be fully visible; no sunglasses, tinted glasses, or non-religious headgear.
  • Fingers must be free of henna (mehndi), ink, or cuts.
  • Postpone your visit if you have temporary finger injuries.


Biometric Exemptions:
Biometric data is not required for:

  • Children under 5 years
  • Applicants under 14 years (for fingerprints)
  • Applicants who are physically unable to provide fingerprints (medical proof needed)
  • Heads of State or government officials on official visits (and their spouses/official delegations)


Security & Code of Conduct:

  • Random bag searches may be conducted for safety.
  • Please be respectful. Any abuse or intimidation towards staff is not tolerated.
  • Be ready to present your passport, application form, and collection receipt for verification.
