Overview : The Duplicate Passport service is intended for Indian nationals residing in South Korea who have lost or damaged their passports. This service facilitates the issuance of a new passport to replace the lost or damaged one.

How To Apply

  1. Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

  2. Fill Out the Government of India’s Online Passport Application Form:

  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

  4. Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
  5. Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC (as per your jurisdiction). The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
  6. Submit Your Application & Pay Fees: Submit your documents and pay the applicable fees at ICAC. Refer to the Fee Details section for exact charges.
  7. Enroll for Biometrics (if required): Complete biometric enrollment if applicable.
  8. Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your application.
  9. Track Your Application: Monitor your application’s status online.

Documents Checklist 

  • FIR or police report in case of a lost passport.

  • Details or photocopy of the lost passport, if available.

  • Photocopy of the first, second, and last pages of the damaged passport (if applicable).

  • A written letter explaining the circumstances under which the passport was lost or damaged.

  • Photocopy of the front and back sides of the Alien Registration Card.

  • Photocopy of the visa page showing the date of entry into South Korea.

  • Two recent passport-size photographs (2 x 2 inches) with a light-colored background.

  • Printout of the application form submitted online.

  • Duly completed Personal Particulars Form (Form No. 2).

  • Duly filled Annexure-D, signed by both parents (if applying for a minor).

  • Photocopies of any two identity/address proof documents along with originals for verification (e.g., Driving License, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Ration Card, Electricity Bill, etc.).

Note – Applicants are required to furnish original documents along with one set of self-attested copies of the same for processing. For minor applicants, documents must be attested by both parents.

1. Can I apply for a re-issue if my passport is lost or damaged?
Yes. If your passport is lost, stolen, or physically damaged, you must apply for a re-issue under the category “Lost/Damaged Passport.”

2. What documents are required for applying in case of a lost passport?

You will need:

  • A Police Report or loss certificate clearly stating the loss
  • A copy of the lost passport (if available)
  • Proof of identity and residence
  • Valid visa/residence permit at the time of loss

3. What documents are required in case of a damaged passport?
You must submit:

  • The original damaged passport
  • A letter explaining how the damage occurred
  • Proof of current identity, address, and visa/residence permit

All documents must be original or self-attested copies.

4. Is it mandatory to appear in person for this application?
Yes. In cases of lost or damaged passports, applicants are required to visit Du Digital ICAC in person with a prior appointment. Postal applications are not accepted for this category.

5. Can I still travel using my damaged or lost passport while waiting for re-issue?
No. Once a passport is reported as lost or damaged, it becomes invalid. You should not travel using that document.

6. Will I get the same passport number after re-issue?
No. A new passport number will be issued. The old one will be officially cancelled and cannot be reused.

7. How long does the re-issue process take in case of loss or damage?
The process may take up to seven weeks, depending on verification. You will receive SMS updates and can track your application via the “Track Application” page.

8. Do I need to provide details of my current visa/residence permit?
Yes. If your visa or residence permit was also lost or damaged, you must present a certificate or letter stating the visa status and validity at the time of loss for verification.

9. What precautions should I take if my passport is lost abroad?
Immediately file a police report and obtain a written certificate of loss. Also, inform the Indian Mission/Embassy and ensure you have copies of your visa/residence permit and identity documents for verification.

10. Will my valid visas from the lost passport be transferred to the new one?
No. Visas cannot be transferred. You must contact the respective immigration authorities or embassies of those countries to check reapplication or endorsement procedures.
