1. Can I add my spouse’s name to my passport after marriage?
Yes. You can apply for a re-issue of your passport to include your spouse’s name after marriage. This is treated as a change in personal particulars.
2. What documents are required to include my spouse’s name in my passport?
You will need:
- A copy of the marriage certificate
- A copy of your spouse’s passport
Additional documents may be required as per the “Documents Checklist” section.
3. Is physical presence required to apply for this service?
Yes. You must visit Du Digital ICAC in person (with prior appointment) to submit your passport re-issue application for including your spouse’s name.
4. Can I include my spouse’s name at the time of applying for a new passport?
Yes. If you’re applying for a new passport (due to expiry, damage, or exhaustion of pages), you can also include your spouse’s name by submitting the required documents.
5. What is the process if I want to change my surname after marriage?
If you wish to update your surname after marriage, you can apply for a re-issue under “change in personal particulars.” Submit your marriage certificate and other required documents.
6. Is it necessary to provide the original documents during submission?
Yes. You must bring original documents for verification when submitting your application at Du Digital ICAC.
7. Can I apply for re-issue by post for spouse name inclusion?
No. Since this involves a change in personal particulars, you must submit the application in person at Du Digital ICAC.
8. My spouse is a foreign national. Can I still include their name in my passport?
Yes. You may include the name of a foreign
national spouse in your passport. A valid marriage certificate with Apostille and a copy of the spouse’s passport is required.
9. What happens to my existing passport once the new one is issued?
Your current passport will be cancelled and returned to you along with the newly issued passport. Existing valid visas on the old passport remain valid.
10. How long does the re-issue process take for including spouse’s name?
The process may take up to seven weeks. You can track your application status online via the “Track Application” page and receive SMS updates throughout the process.
