Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Can I apply for a passport re-issue if I have changed my address?
Yes. If you have changed your address—either in India or abroad—you must apply for a re-issue of passport under “change in personal particulars” to update the address.

2. What address gets printed on the passport?
Only one address—either your Indian address or your current local address (e.g., in South Korea)—will be printed on the passport. You must select your preference carefully while filling out the online application.

3. What documents are needed to change my Indian address in the passport?
You must provide valid proof of address issued by an Indian government authority in your name. If you wish to print your relative’s or parents’ address, you can provide their government-issued ID as proof. Refer to the “Documents Checklist” for acceptable address proofs.

4. Can I choose to print my South Korea address instead of my Indian address?
Yes. While filling the application, you can choose to print your current local (South Korea) address. Supporting documents for that address must be provided accordingly.

5. Will I be charged extra for changing my address in the passport?
No additional fee is charged specifically for address change. However, the standard re-issue fee will apply for any change in personal particulars.

6. Can I still keep my old Indian address in the passport if I live abroad?
Yes. You may choose to retain your Indian address in the printable section, but you must provide valid supporting documents showing your name at that address.

7. What if my name is not on the address proof but my parent/relative resides there?
If the address proof belongs to a parent or close relative, and you wish to retain that Indian address, their ID proof can be accepted—provided the relationship is clearly established.

8. Do I need to submit original documents at the time of application?
Yes. You must carry original documents for verification at Du Digital ICAC when submitting your application in person.

9. Can I apply by post for address change?
Yes, postal applications are allowed for address change. Make sure all supporting documents are self-attested and submitted as per the postal application guidelines on Du Digital ICAC’s website.

10. How long does it take to process the re-issue with updated address?
Processing can take up to seven weeks. Applicants receive SMS updates and can track the application status via the “Track Application” section online.
