Re-issue of Passport for Adults on completion of Validity – 60 Pages

Overview

Indian Passports are generally issued with a validity of 10 years for adults and 5 years for children up to the age of 15 years. Upon expiry, or when certain conditions apply, a new passport must be obtained as part of the re-issue process.

The practice of handwritten endorsements for changes in personal particulars (such as name, address, or appearance) is no longer followed. Therefore, any change in personal information requires issuance of a new passport.

A new passport is also required in the following cases:

When the existing passport has run out of pages for visas
One year prior to the expiry of a 10-year passport
Upon final expiry of the current passport
In cases of damage, loss, or theft
For correction of personal particulars

How To Apply

Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

Fill Out the Government of India’s Online Passport Application Form:

Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the Documents Checklist section.
Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC. The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter. Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
Submit Your Application: Submit all required documents for your application. Please note that if any required documents are missing, your application cannot be processed.

FAQs:

1. What is a 60-page (jumbo) passport booklet and who should apply for it?
The 60-page jumbo passport is meant for frequent travelers whose passports fill up quickly with visa stamps. It offers the same validity as a standard passport but with more pages.

2. When can I apply for re-issue of my 60-page passport?
You can apply for re-issue within one year of passport expiry. It is advisable to apply in advance to avoid any disruption in travel plans.

3. How do I opt for the 60-page booklet during re-issue?
While filling out your online application, select the option for “Jumbo (60 pages)” in the booklet type section before submission.

4. What documents are required for re-issuing a 60-page passport?

You will need to submit:

A copy of your current passport (first and last page)
Pages with visa stamps (if any)
Proof of valid residence (if living abroad)

5. Do I get a new passport number upon re-issue?
Yes. A new passport number is issued when the passport is re-issued. However, your old passport number will be referenced in the new passport.

6.Will my old passport still be valid during the re-issue process?
The old passport will be cancelled and returned to you. Valid visas on the old passport remain usable as long as you carry both passports while traveling.

7. Is personal appearance at Du Digital ICAC necessary?
Yes. You must visit Du Digital ICAC in person with a prior appointment for document submission and verification.

8. How long does it take to get the re-issued 60-page passport?
The process may take approximately 2–3 months. You can track your application status online via the “Track Application” page and receive SMS updates throughout the process.

9. Can I apply for the jumbo passport if I previously had a 36-page one?
Yes. Even if your previous passport was a 36-page booklet, you can request a 60-page jumbo passport during re-issue by selecting the correct option in the application.

10. Is self-attestation of documents required?
Yes. All supporting document copies submitted with the application must be self-attested by the applicant.
