To obtain a marriage certificate as an Indian citizen residing in South Korea through the Indian Embassy in Seoul, the process involves two main steps: registering your marriage with the local Korean authorities and then reporting the marriage to the Indian Embassy for consular records.

How To Apply

  1. Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

  4. Prepare Your Documents: Carry your passport, photographs, and all supporting documents as listed in the
    Documents Checklist section.
  5. Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC (as per your jurisdiction). The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter.
    Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
  6. Submit Your Application: Submit all required documents for your application. Please note that if any required documents are missing,
    your application cannot be processed.

  7. Having an Interview with the Embassy:
    The Embassy will schedule the interview after reviewing your application.
    When attending the interview, please bring witnesses as required.

List of Documents to be Submitted along with the Application (INTERVIEW NEEDED)

  1. Duly Filled Notice for Intended Marriage Form
  2. Register of Marriage Application Forms (1&2)
  3. Declaration by Prospective Bride and Bridegroom (in duplicate by each)
  4. Sworn Affidavit by the prospective bride and bridegroom (in duplicate by each)
  5. Two Recent Passport-Size Photographs: (2 inch x 2 inch, by each)
  6. Three Witnesses (holding residence visa of South Korea, two of them must be Indian nationals)
    with their original and copies of valid passports.
  7. If One of the Parties is Not an Indian Citizen:
    A No Objection Certificate / Affidavit (regarding marital status and willingness to marry an Indian)
    from the concerned authorities, apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, South Korea.
  8. Bachelorhood Affidavit:
    As per prevailing policy, an individual must personally submit an affidavit of bachelorhood for apostille/attestation.
    No other person can submit it on their behalf. Alternatively, the SDM/Tahsildar of their jurisdiction may issue
    the bachelorhood certificate for apostille/attestation.
  9. Presence Requirement:
    All five persons are required to appear before the Marriage Officer for signatures with their original passports
    and photocopies at both stages — form submission and marriage solemnization.
    (Photocopy of passports required only at the time of submission.)
  10. Publication Requirement:
    After submitting the form, the parties must publish a Marriage Notice in two newspapers in India
    based on the permanent address stated in the passport.
  11. If Applicant is a Divorcee:
    A decree of divorce duly apostilled in India (if divorce took place in India).
    *If an applicant was divorced in Korea, the marriage cannot be registered at the Embassy of India, Korea.
