For Indian Passport Holders:

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is issued to individuals holding an Indian passport who require the document for the following purposes:

  • Residency applications in a foreign country
  • Employment or long-term visa processing
  • Immigration requirements
  • Any long-term stay abroad

PCC serves as proof that the applicant has no criminal record during their stay in India and is a necessary requirement for several countries before granting long-term status.

For Foreign Nationals:

Foreign nationals who have previously stayed in India for employment, studies, or residency can apply for a PCC to cover that specific period.

How To Apply

  1. Create an Account: Register on the Du Digital Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website.

  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule your visit to Du Digital ICAC by choosing a suitable date and time.

  5. Visit Du Digital ICAC: Visit the designated ICAC. The address and location will be mentioned in your appointment letter.
    Ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
  6. Submit Your Application: Submit all required documents for your application. Please note that if any required documents
    are missing, your application cannot be processed.

  7. Arrange an Interview with the Embassy (For Foreign Nationals):
    Interviews are held every Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. ICAC will help schedule your interview
    at a time that is convenient for you.

  8. Application Submission Complete: You’ve successfully submitted your application.

For Indian Nationals:

  1. Printout of the Online Submitted Application Form:

  2. Copy of Stamps showing first arrival and last departure dates in India.

  4. Copy of FRRO Card or Residence Permit

  6. Fingerprint Card taken at a local police station as per Indian authority requirements.
  7. Original Passport along with copies of the first, second, and last pages.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Who can apply for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)?
Indian nationals applying for residential status, employment, long-term visa, or immigration.
Not required for Indian tourists traveling abroad for tourism.

2. In which language will the PCC be issued?
PCC will be issued only in English.

3. What are the eligibility conditions to obtain a PCC?
Indian Nationals: Must hold a valid Indian passport and ARC,and provide proof of current address. If the address differs from the passport, submit your updated Aadhaard Card or 2 supporting documents for the new address.
Foreign Nationals: Must submit a valid passport, proof of address, exact duration of stay in India, and supporting documents of residence during that period.

4. How much time does it take to receive a PCC?
The processing time is typically 4 weeks, depending on the clearance received from police authorities in India.

5. Is there an age limit to apply for PCC?
There is no age limit.

6. Can I apply if my passport has expired?
PCC is issued only on valid passports (with at least 6 months validity).
Foreign nationals must fulfil the eligibility requirements stated in Q.3.

7. What if I receive an adverse police report?
PCC cannot be issued if an adverse report is received.

Common reasons: incorrect address, gender, or names. Please ensure:
– Correct address with active residence
– Correct gender
– Correct parents’ names as per passport
– Correct spouse’s name as per passport

If the report is adverse, you must contact the police authorities in India directly.

8. Do I need to select a police station in India while applying?
Yes, selecting a police station is mandatory.

9. How do I find my correct police station?
Use local contacts or check the official police websites of the concerned district.

10. Can minors apply for a PCC?
Yes, but only if required by a foreign government.

11. Can I apply for PCC more than once?
You may need to apply again if the purpose or country differs.

12. Can the PCC be apostilled by the Embassy/Consulate?
No, Indian Missions in South Korea do not apostille PCCs.
